Our week spent in Texas was excellent. Not only was I able to catch up with some college friends and eat great Tex-Mex, I also worked with innovative librarians along the way. For example, I had the pleasure of meeting Anita Patel, Adult Services Librarian, who thought of creative ways to promote the Digital Bookmobile event at Pasadena Public Library. Anita and her staff constructed a miniature replica of the truck inside the central library branch that grabbed the attention of many patrons walking by. The display was extremely informative and even included a map of exactly where the Digital Bookmobile would be parked.
Check out the video below to see the Digital Bookmobile’s exhibits and to hear Anita and me talk about the digital trend and how to get started with the library’s digital lending program.
Anita said of the experience, “This was a fabulous opportunity for the Pasadena Libraries to offer the residents of Pasadena on the library digital resources. There are so many people that still may not know the library has eBooks, eAudiobooks, and more for FREE available on our website through OverDrive that can be used on digital devices, such as smartphones and tablets. The bookmobile was a way to showcase and bring awareness to these opportunities.”
I look forward to visiting more libraries but the 2014 tour is wrapping up at the end of this month so be sure to catch the Digital Bookmobile if you’re in the sunny state of Florida!
