I got to visit the Digital Bookmobile with my family at our home library! It was such an awesome opportunity learn more about the amazing eresources we have access to! I’ve got a ton of books checked out in Libby! Such an easy and convenient app to use! My nephews’ loved the truck and learning that they could try out Thomas the Train and Paw Patrol read alongs too! We can’t get them off their tablets- and now it’s for books!!
I visited the Digital Bookmobile in Ohio and it was so cool! I didn’t realize that I could check out ebooks for free right on my tablet, I’m going to do so much more reading! This was so much fun and I can’t wait until they come back next year.
Earlier this year, I traveled with the Digital Bookmobile to Redmond Library near Seattle, Washington. I loved sharing Libby with the library’s patrons– they were so excited to learn about the many digital titles available to them! This event was the same day as the Royal Wedding and the library had many fun events to celebrate the occasion, including a curated collection of royalty themed titles. I am so grateful that I was able to travel to such an interesting city and meet patrons so passionate about reading!
I’ve helped teach people about OverDrive on the Digital Bookmobile in many cities, but my favorite memory is from Colorado Springs. One patron was quite confused about how to read her OverDrive titles on her Kindle. To help her, I grabbed my own Kindle so we could walk through the process. Not only did we have the same model, but we had the same exact Kindle case, too! It was so fun to connect over eBooks with someone i would have never met if it weren’t for great libraries and the DBM!
This is definitely the coolest thing I’ve ever seen at a library. Wow!
Agreed! I love that programs like this are available!
I visited the Bookmobile in Las Vegas this year – very impressive! I was able to download the Libby app and start reading right there on the truck. It can be difficult for me to get to the library and back during the week so it’s great that I can check out titles during my lunch break. Thanks OverDrive!
I’ve had the joy of traveling full time with the Digital Bookmobile powered by OverDrive for over one year now. My favorite memories are about the people I’ve met. Staff at OverDrive rotate in and out of the tour on 2-4 day stints, and it’s been so much fun getting to know them better. We’ve explored new cities, ate great food, and worked hand-in-hand on the Digital Bookmobile. Next we have the library and school staff. I am humbled by how warmly we have been greeted at many of our stops, and how quickly our teams became one during the day. Lastly, we have our visitors! It has been so enjoyable meeting people who are new to digital content and people who have used it for years. I feel honored to have heard stories of how ebooks and/or audiobooks have changed someone’s life. It’s also been eye opening to see the beautiful diversity across North America, and the realization that we may look different but we’re all the same.
Loved taking my granddaughters to visit the Digital Bookmobile at Porter Library in Westlake, Ohio. They loved previewing some of the children’s books that are available to them online.
I visited the Bookmobile when it came to my local library and I was blown away! I had tried several times (on my own) to figure out how to download books from the library to my e-reader and was never successful. When visiting the Bookmobile, I was educated on how to accomplish this task with easy-to-follow instructions. Finally!
The Bookmobile is a cool way to encourage reading in today’s digital world!
I visited the Bookmobile this summer of 2018 at Porter Public Library in Westlake, Ohio. I follow it on fb, I think it’s wonderful, a traveling library with a dedicated staff who handles all of the many and varied details to make it go. Keep up the excellent work. I’m sure your impact is positive and widespread beyond . . who knows? Thank you!

I was really excited after visitng the bookmobile. I’m in my 20’s and have not read many books in my life. I’ve been thinking how I want to start up reading more! Self-help books catch my interest the most, and looking on Libby, there was so may go choose from! Even audiobooks, which I love because I can listen to them no matter what I’m doing. I’m not very tech savvy, and luckily I found Libby extremely easy to navigate. The staff was super helpful, and I left the bookmobile excited to start reading and educating myself! Libby makes it simple and easy in our busy lives!
I appeared with Steve & other Overdrive staff at the Central Park event in 2008, dressed as NYPL’s lion mascot, Fortitude. It was inspiring even then how so many were willing to embrace this new format & new form of literacy.
